Welcome to my web site. My name is Hallie and I am a rescue longhaired dachshund. I paint and donate proceeds to the Purple Heart Rescue. Learn more about me on my "Bio" page. I always wear a red artist's beret when I paint and it often shows up in my paintings. I also happen to be blind but I don't let that slow me down.
All of my paintings are now signed! I have to admit I was having a little trouble with that whole paw/dexterity thing, and Mom didn't want paint up my nose, so we made an exact replica of my actual nose into a stamp and every painting gets my nose print on it.

February 14, 2013: Hallie is still painting but she has taken a break from media as she has been practicing for her K9 Nose Work trials where the dogs search 4 areas, an interior search, exterior search, container search and vehicle search. They have a certain amount of time to search each area, find the exact source of scent, and indicate to their handler where it is. They have to pass each of the 4 elements to earn their title.
Hallie was entered in a trial on January 20 and earned her title with flying colors! She was the only blind pup there and out of 33 dogs entered, only 14 passed and Hallie was 8th overall. She found the exterior hide in a very fast 25 seconds. (3 minutes was alloted). She was also awarded the "Harry Award" which is given to the most outstanding rescue dog that demonstrates extraordinary ability and spirit in nose work at each trial. I was extremely proud of her and shed many tears that day. Best of all, she had a wonderful time. Here is a video clip of her in action at a match. You would never guess she is blind.

We have been blessed with a very gifted holistic vet, Donna Kelleher. She has been treating Hallie for several weeks now, with NAET treatment for her allergies, and diet changes. So far I've seen some very positive changes in her! I have been to several holistic vets before with my previous 2 dogs with no results...so was a bit skeptical going into this. But am now a firm believer!
We would like to recommend Dr. Donna's book, "The Proof is in the Poodle". It will make you laugh...and cry. It is a wonderful read on her journey to becoming a holistic healer and her ongoing passion for learning new methods of helping our four legged family in a safe and healthy way. (So far, she has gotten Hallie off of the allergy shots she has had to have all of her life as well as Pepcid AC and Carafate for her stomach!)
